Our Vision

After the United States of America was founded under the revolutionary idea that all are created equal, its Constitution invited us to bring its ideal to life with the words “We, the People.”

Today, this promise remains unfulfilled. And it is precisely at this moment, when the limitations of our nearly 250 years of governing are coming to a breaking point, that we must rise up and fulfill this mandate.

Building a truly multiracial democracy—the one that has not yet existed but is ours to create—will be the work of our generation. It is our duty to transform our democracy and economy, closing the chasm between those for whom this nation has always worked and those who have yet to reap its benefits.

This future, one where all can thrive, is the nation we are working towards. In this flourishing multiracial democracy, all people in the United States of America will benefit from responsive and accountable governing systems and structures. All people in the United States of America will benefit from an equitable economy — with good jobs, dignified and rising standards of living, and increased voice, power and ownership. Everyone will live in thriving communities, where they can choose where they live, and find belonging and prosperity. Housing is affordable, transportation is accessible, and all people can access safe water and good jobs.

This work is urgent. A third of the people in this country, nearly 100 million, live below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. We can renew ourselves and the nation. To do so, we need to reimagine our laws, regulations, customs, and institutions.

We need to be founders of a nation that serves all.
