Biography

Julian Y. Cuevas, Director of California Strategy, is the son of Mexican immigrants. With over a decade of experience working at the intersection of policy, community and civic engagement, philanthropy, and advocacy, Julian will help lead his team in shaping our broader Winning on Equity in Places strategy in California — designed to support multi-issue statewide campaigns and coalitions to advance racial equity in areas that include inclusive economic development, infrastructure, housing, climate resilience, and civic engagement. Prior to joining PolicyLink, Julian has served in capacities that include Director of Policy & Governmental Affairs at the Inland Empire Community Foundation, Director of Education Programs at the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, and was appointed by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction as the Director of Government Affairs at the California Department of Education. Julian additionally serves as Trustee of the Dixon School Board, Trustee of the Dixon Library Board, and sits on the Solano County Democratic Central Committee. He received his bachelors degree from the University of California San Diego in Political Science/American Politics and his masters degree from American University in Public Administration and Policy. Julian and his wife, Jessica, a speech language pathologist, live in Dixon and have 3 children, Mateo, Sofia, and Camila.
